City leaders will meet with union leaders in Phoenix on Thursday to discuss budget cuts and workers are hoping this won't lead to losing their jobs.

The City of Phoenix needs to cut $250 million dollars from the budget.

The seven major union leaders say workers are willing to make sacrifices from forgoing pay increases to taking time off without pay, hoping to keep layoffs a last resort.

Even jobs that used to be untouchable are on the table, like police officers and firefighters.

Mayor Phil Gordon claims 1,000 of the city's 14,000 jobs have been cut through job freezes and attrition, but even that may not be enough.

The city is expected to make a final decision on possible job cuts by the end of the year.
