According to a new
Business Journal study, Phoenix ranks as the 28th hottest job market in America.
Texas is home to America's three hottest labor markets, Houston, Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth.
From healthcare to technology to retail, Phoenix companies are holding job fairs and spending big adverstising dollars to attract top talent.
There are a number of upcoming fairs and career expos.

Jobing.com, Arizona State University is looking for an IT analyst with a starting salary of up to $50,000.

"There is still a lot of jobs...it just depends on where you're looking," says Jarrett Skreen, an account manager for
KForce.
His agency helps companies find top engineering and technology talent, and says companies are paying $50,000-$110,000 a year to fill these positions right now. Finance and accounting jobs are paying even more, from $50,000-$160,000 a year.

General Dynamics C4 Systems in Scottsdale is also looking for 88 entry-level to senior-level engineers.
KForce's Skreen says positions are highly competitive. He suggests updating your resume, defining your skills and brushing up on the latest technology.
"I would join user groups to learn about stuff," he said. "I would do some online classes or online training. A lot of the community colleges and universities have software training that you could do."

As the holiday season approaches, Valley companies including Safeway Supermarkets, UPS and Target are stocking up on holiday workers.

"You're seeing a lot of employment in hospitality, the different golf resorts," she said.
JobFox reports the top recession-proof jobs right now are sales representative, software design and development and nursing. Over the next six months, Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix is hiring approximately 150, perhaps 180 nurses.

"All the projections indicate that nursing will be in a severe shortage for up to 20 years," Hallberg adds. "A full time job easily can be $55,000 starting all the way up to around $90,000."
