"Quincey" was removed from the euthanasia list at a local animal shelter and taken in by the Circle L Ranch, an animal rescue organization. Quincey has recently been living with a Valley foster family.
According to a news release, the 15-year-old Tibetan terrier has been on an adoption list since June.
Then they received a call from Quincey's owner, Betsy Morris, who found out she could have the dog with her at the Phoenix shelter.
Morris said she had been heartbroken to give him up because he had been her "rock," preventing her from suicide many times.
She found the dog through the rescue group and members say they will continue to provide food and medical care for the dog when he is returned to his owner.
Circle L Ranch is a sanctuary for horses, dogs and other animals.
